We are proud to welcome Leendert van Driel and 1000 Steps (Amsterdam/Bonaire) as a Zonnewater Partner.
After receiving his degree in 1971 in Civil Engineering from the technical University Delft, he worked, until 1976, for Shell in South America and Malaysia. He subsequently spent five years as a management consultant with McKinsey and Co. in the Netherlands and abroad.
In 1982 he co-founded Gilde Investment and headed the company as Executive Chairman until the end of 2000. During that period Gilde invested in appr. 200 companies in the Netherlands, Europe and the U.S.A. He was a member of the founding committee and previously chairman of the Dutch Venture Capital Association (EVCA).
In 2001 he was a member of the Commissie Winsemius (Economie 21e EeuW), a committee that advised the Ministry of Economic Affairs on its policy for the coming 10 years.
At present, with his investment company “1000 Steps”, he aims to stimulate entrepreneurship in arts, culture, in lesser developed economies and in sustainable activities. The Netherlands, Spain and the Dutch Caribbean are the geographical areas, in which “1000 Steps” so far has been investing.
He is a board member in a variety of companies – Amadeus (UK), AXA Stenman Industries, Backstream (The Netherlands), Gilde Investment Management and Robeco Sustainable Private Equity Fund (The Netherlands).
He is also board member of several foundations.

Michel has more than 15 years extensive experience in IT R&D engineering and Naval electronics. He also has built an extensive network of contacts in the Arabian world and the Caribbean Islands.
Zonnewater is proud to have him as the technical expert for the IT R&D software and hardware issues.

Peter Hoefkens, MD, PhD, is an expert in laboratory medicine. Zonnewater is proud to have him as an advisor on issues related to microbiology, chemical contaminants and other specialist issues.

Roland van Leusden is THE expert in electronics and software for Zonnewater. Zonnewater is proud to have him as the technical expert for the Solaris equipment and other specialist software issues.

Jan de Koning, visionary and inventor, was Manager at duPont for 25 years and is founder of Zonnewater and developer of the Aqua Solaris.
